Cooking up a Story: Do YOU Have Ants in Your Pants?

©2011 RBCB Used with permission
Do you have Ants in your Pants that make you want to Dance? is the question asked in Renee Hand's new coloring and activity book. We met Renee through a blog hop and she offered to send us one of her books for our weekly Cooking Up a Story. X and I jumped at the chance when we saw this cute story posted on her blog.

It's all about a boy named Sheldon whose imagination has a way of getting the better of him. Whether he's in a restaurant, the grocery store or the museum, Sheldon's got an imagination that just won't stop.

In honor of Sheldon, we decided to do a twist on the classic "ants on a log" snack for this Cooking Up a Story.

Sheldon's Red Ant Snack

Dried cherries or cranberries
Cream cheese
Apple, sliced into sticks

Spread each apple stick with cream cheese on one side. Dot with dried cherries or cranberries.

You can find Do You Have Ants in Your Pants That Make You Dance? and other works by Renee on her website at http://www.reneeahand.com/.

I remember those when I was young. Our version as a kid was different. One of my teachers used celery with peanut butter and raisins. It got me eating my celery and raisins!

I had those too but since X has a peanut allergy we had to do a re-design ;) And I really like the combination of apple and cream cheese with the tartness of cranberries - hmmmmm....maybe as a muffin? :)
